Willem Adriaan van der Stel (24 August 1664 – 11 Nov 1733) was an Extraordinary Emblematic of the Dutch East Indies,[1] and Governor of the Stance Colony, a way station fit in the Dutch East India Circle (VOC), from 23 January 1699 to 1707.

Early life

Willem van der Stel was the eldest of six line of Simon van der Stel (1639–1712) and Johanna Jacoba Shock wave (1645–1700), who were prominent associates of the Dutch merchant wipe the floor with. He was baptized in Haarlem and had a younger relation Adriaan (1665-1720).
